Aspen Lakes 7/9/10-7/10/10

I feel like I can finally get on with my summer now that the Ward Campout is over. It went well enough as far as a good turn out and there was plenty of food. Sadie's suggestion to have everyone make their own shiskabobb was a hit. Yes, they took a while to cook so I kept telling people, "This aint fast food!" Our freind Dennis and Matt made some dutch oven potatoes to make ya bawl. The weather was amazing and the spot I had reserved was big enough and located in a beautiful setting only 10 minutes up Center Street. Most people utilized the zip-line and canoes, which I wasn’t sure they would.  Even I had the chance to do both. No worries, if people had questions I was real easy to find in my neon yellow shirt. One gal compared it to the color of a highlighter aglow. I loved looking at the tents all aglow nestled in the greenery. But that bumpy ground I slept on made for a LONG night. We got a thunderstorm like no other as well. You might not think I would describe that as having amazing weather but the storm didn't interfere with a thing and it sounded wonderful on the tent. To that the Bishop said, "I like your attitude!" I almost said under my breath, "It's amazing what finally having help will do!!" During the night I decided to blow up my air mattress. It was so quiet ouside I feared I was sounding  like Darth Vader walking through the camp. "Don't worry, it's just me," I wanted to call out.
I learned at breakfast that  people really don't like you to show up in make-up. They act almost personally offended. When are people gonna realize, the natural me is with make-up! We had a hungry man style breakfast with eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, and cheese for breakfast. Matt stood at the griddle to dish up plates. Kids came through with specific instructions, "I don't want any potatoes or cheese in mine." Matt would cheerfully say, "Okay!" And proceed to give a big pile of food on their plate. "The next kid, "I don't want any sausage." "Okay!" And he'd scoop again from the same pile. ha ha.  Matt cracked an even better funny while we were eating and the bishop started with a story, "When my wife Kathy and I were at a Steak House once, I can't remember if we were married or dating..." Matt intrerrupted, "You were dating!" Matt wasn't the only to provide entertainment though. We also had a firesde the nightbefore with music by two ward members. We sang along to some songs or just listened to the guitar. Stringed instruments sound amazing in the forrest.
I was the last to stay behind Saturday morning and get the bathrooms scrubbed and polished (Eew- a campground bathroom with a urinal that wouldn’t flush). After leaving the Mountains I came home to wash MOUNTAINS of laundry. I’ve had better days but I’ve also had worse, so no complaints. The best part? No poopindatent. No complaints.

To get this look: Sit on the kitchen floor with an ice-cream bucket about 1/8” full of melted ice cream, attempt to drink the contents and then flip the entire bucket over your head. Barely rinse the ice cream out of your hair over the sink then rub vigorously with a dry dishcloth. Sleep on this hair for two days with out brushing. This works best if one of those nights is in the mountains with a fleece hood on. Then next morning you will have THIS look! Again, No complaints.
