Easter 2013

Here are my futile attempts at making Easter about Christ, and NOT about the Easter Bunny:

Mallerie has been working on and off again at Heber Valley Railroad. Her boss approached her as Easter neared to tell her about the Easter train they would be offering. He said to her real excitedly  "The kids will get to talk with the Easter bunny, get an egg, and even do the Bunny HOP!" She nodded enthusiastically, so he asked if she wanted to work that weekend, "Yes," she said. "Good," he went on, "YOU are the Easter Bunny."

On a random day in March I had a plethora of eggs on hand so I boiled them up for egg dying. I wanted to get a head start before Graham asked relentlessly when we would be dying eggs. Instead it was, "Is this for dying eggs?" he asked wonderingly as I set up the counter. While the kids dyed eggs that Saturday Katrina and Mallerie did some teaching for me. Mallerie talked about Christ's triumphal entry before his last week of ministry and Katrina taught about Jesus cleansing the Temple. I had hopes of continuing through the week with His teachings but I keep flopping at this ROYALLY year after year.

I did manage to get the kids Easter baskets ready so they were out on Saturday instead of Sunday this year. Again, it was a nice unexpected surprise for the kids. On Sunday I had something new and simple for the girls to wear to church. I didn't bother with the boys because they didn't even notice at Christmas that they didn't have new clothes. Unfortunately Graham did notice this time, but his observant eyes are not always a bad thing. Also out on Sunday was this picture of Christ that came in the Ensign. I thought it so lovely that I strait-away cut it out and framed it.

Graham told me what his thoughts were as he came out in the morning on Easter Sunday.  "I got up and looked at the table for more candy. Then I saw the picture of Jesus and I looked at it for 10 minutes. Then I remembered, "Easter isn't just about candy, it's about Jesus."

Finally!

Eliza treated us to a delicious Easter spread at her house later that afternoon. An Easter Feaster. Then she and I, and Lindsey & Lindsey combined our filled eggs for some hunt heaven for the kids. The air temperature was perfect that night. I relish a warm Easter more than a snowy Christmas I think.

The week before was also lovely as I took Katrina and Ava downtown to see the General Young Women's meeting at the Conference Center with other YW from our ward. I was sad Mallerie had to miss it because she was working on the train. Really, it still doesn't sit right with me. We were given three tickets so I brought Ava along. We waltzed through City Creek before meandering the grounds of Temple Square and on to the Conference Center. Ava and I were approached quickly by a church photographer where we smiled for a photo. I was coming off a wretched two week sickness and still had fever blisters around my nose and mouth. I was pretty confident our photo wouldn't be in the Ensign but all the same the first thing I did when it came this month was take inventory of the pictures!

I snapped some beauties of my own:

The grounds were as lovely as always. They were equally as stunning at the Provo Temple that month.

We weren't out of the woods yet, but spring had defiantly sprung.
