Back from summer vacation, there was just one week left before high school started. I, on the other hand, never took a break. I have always wanted to try summer school. I took a delightful parenting class that was recommended repeatedly by fellow classmates. I was reluctant for two reasons, I didn't want to be plagued with guilt, plus, I have empty nesting in my sights. However, I can see why it was so highly recommended. It was introspective. I was giddy when I read the syllabus and saw that there wouldn't be any quizzes or exams, rather we would each write ten papers. Loved it all. And I even got to interview my parents, which was a sweet experience.
Matt was out of town for the YW Daddy/Daughter night. I was wracking my brain about who could attend with Callie till she said, "What about you?" So I did! We had a hoe down in our town. Yee-haw!
But Matt was back in town to attend the last Market on Main.
Summer can't come to a close without a room refresh or two. Callie decided she wanted a slight change to her room so I suggested she switch up the navy accent wall for a neutral and paint the wall behind her bed the same dusty pink in the downstairs bedroom. (We prefer "dusty pink" to the actual paint name of "dead salmon.")
She did all the work in her room while I repainted her bathroom, including the ceiling. We were getting things spiffed for Grayson's return!
All finished:
I hung some vintage plates on the wall in the kitchen. I was just finishing when Graham walked in. I asked him what he thought, "You're getting older," he appropriately noted.
Graham proved how young and vibrant he is by building a new computer he had ordered the parts for. A couple of friends came over to "help" (looked to me like they were more of a support group. He said that when you build a computer you can't stand on carpet or you will get shocked. Duly noted.
I was moral support at Kirsten's son's wedding reception. Missy and I chatted in her car since a downpour came out of nowhere. I kept missing texts from Matt. He hadn't been home when I left, and he failed to see the wedding invitation on the counter to deduct where I was. My breadcrumb trail needs to be improved it sounds like. But I seriously have yet to be able to chat with a friend without my phone going off like crazy from one of my family members the whole time.
It was wedding season! You can see above all the invites on the kitchen buffet. We attended a dreamy reception at a local property we hadn't been to before.
Back to School August 15th: Callie Freshman Year. Graham Junior Year.
Cuties!
We could never find a time for Callie to go back-to-school shopping with me when I was going down the canyon. I was brave and took it upon myself. I spent the afternoon at University Place buying things I thought she would look adorable in. I had some misses, but I had some hits too!
Callie practiced all summer with the high school Cross Country (XC) team for meets that began in the August heat.
That meant that the football team also started playing. I assisted Matt with the stats in Rexburg, ID. Didn't have a clue what I was doing. We were celebrating 29 years. Still don't have a clue what I am doing there either, haha.
