Callie left to school in a new outfit with a new backpack. This one is more her size and doesn't hit her in the back of the knees.
This new birthday shirt would be my inspiration for my family Valentines in February.
When I had been at the Dollar Store a week earlier getting stuff for the "Glow Room" I came across some frozen figurines. The frenzy must have run it's course for me to find such a thing. I decided to make Callie a Frozen cake. (Remember last year her obsession with Olaf at Build-A-Bear? It seemed fitting).
When Callie was born in 2008 it was an election year, or should I say THE election year. McCain and Obama were in the Presidential race. Since I was due on Oct 22nd I voted early because I didn't want to have to go out so soon after having the baby. Since Callie was 12 days late, I watched the Presidential news coverage from my hospital room. I was double glad I had voted early....not that it made a difference :(
This time around she was there to drop my ballot in the box.
Giuseppe's mom came across this coat at a yard sale and sent it back with K and G. It is perfect!
The rest of the day involved a lot of waiting! Matt was going to go through Provo to pick up Katrina after work. Unfortunately there was a fatal accident that caused hours of delay. They were caught in the long line of traffic. I was so thankful they were safe that waiting didn't seem a sacrifice at all.
Thankfully, Callie's little friends from next door popped in with a gift.
They had that whole purse nearly colored by the time Matt and Katrina got home. It was a great distraction.
After dinner Callie was most anxious to open the rest of her gifts.
The cake was delicious...I promise!
The being together is what makes my heart bust with joy.
Also, Callie is my joy, light, peace, love! I love her confidence, humor, and heart. Chatting with her is always a treat.
Callie's Spanish teacher had a baby on Halloween day. I thought she would wait till after the new year to come back but she wasn't gone long at all. One day Callie said, "Ms. Carrera's baby is so cute!" I asked, "Oh, you've seen her?" Callie said, "Yeah, she brings the baby to school. The baby stays in the closet with another lady." I said, "Do you ever hear the baby?" Callie said, "Yeah, it sounds like this, wa wa waaaa." I was simultaneously amused and confused.
