Though he had a sinking feeling in his gut, Matt obliged, bless his heart. We thought we would be able to sell the cabinets but they did not make it through the demolition. Instead they ended up at the dump but the counter sits in the garage awaiting its new home at the other Bocanegras!

Viva Las Vegas! September 30th- October 3rd, 2022
Matt was disappointed to see the dates of the National Convenience Store Trade Show (NACS) because he would be in Vegas the weekend after Ava came home, which also meant that he would miss most of Mallerie's visit. I got to thinking, and suggested, "What if we come to Vegas with you?" We called Mal and she agreed that would be fun. She had to change her return flight to leave from Vegas instead of SLC. Then I decided that we have to see a show and guess who was playing that weekend, DONNY! I booked show tickets for the just girls because Allegiant only flies on Friday and Matt was flying Delta on Sat. However, when Graham learned he would be flying on a budget airline, he asked to fly with Matt instead. This would work better since he wasn't going to go to Donny. So we got a refund on his plane ticket and Matt used a buddy pass to book Graham a ticket on Delta. Now we had to secure a hotel room for the first night because we wouldn't have Matt's work hotel at Caesar's Palace yet. Then Matt decided to book the second hotel, the Marriott, for the remainder of the stay because we wouldn't all fit at Caesar's Palace anyway. I include all these silly details because it took the entire day to finalize this trip. As went to bed that night at 10 pm, I said to Matt, "Do you realize that it was 10 am when I came into your office with the suggestion, "How about we all come to Vegas?" I messaged Ava to not make any plans for the weekend after she comes home because we were taking her to a concert. That is all I told her. Ava was so excited and asked to know, who? Callie said, "Don't tell her." Ha-ha. The kids aren't big Donny fans necessarily, but that wasn't the point. The weekend getaway was the point! Besides, Mallerie has never been to a concert at all. I have always said that I wanted to take her to her first concert. And Matt said that it meant a lot to him that we would want to come to spend time with him.
The rebuilt Provo Airport is brand new and just as cute as can be. I could hear the girls trying to decide what to wear to the concert. Looks like they decided on Sunday Best.
We have been to Vegas various times throughout the years, mostly staying in Henderson or Green Valley Ranch with limited visits to the Strip. Not really a family destination, ya know... So it was fun to show the girls the grandeur.
We took an Uber from the airport to the hotel. After checking in, we decided to go on foot to the Strip. It didn't look very far, however, it was in the 90s. We got only one block before I summoned an Uber. I am still new to the app and every city does it a bit differently. Instead of coming directly to where we were, there are certain pick-up spots. We missed that ride, but a new car came shortly. We'll figure this out! Mal reminded me that when the driver asked us if we like to party I answered, "We are our own party." It is true!
Donny's show is at Harrah's. We had a bit of trouble wandering around trying to find the theatre. We saw a family begin to follow us. On the escalator, we learned that the husband was escorting his wife and daughters to the show as well. He said that when he saw us, he told them, "Follow the Sisters." Gah! His daughter had also recently returned home from a mission.
