Mr. President
Matt has so enjoyed serving on the High Council the last couple of years. Therefore, he was as curious as I when we were called into the stake offices towards the end of July. He was being called to serve as the new Young Men's President of the Heber North Stake. Wow! Having just come from serving in the Stake Young Women, I knew what a wonderful opportunity this would be for him, and also for those he would serve. He has a lot to offer.
FAIR DAYS 2016 August 1st-6th
I took Katrina's wedding dress and all the fixins over to the Wasatch County Events Center to display during the Wasatch County Fair. I was glad I had Mallerie and Ava with me since the display area had not even been set up. We had to set up all of that before we could even begin on our display. They don't get many displays in the bridal room ever since they moved it to the Events Center. There is so much dust from the animals. Luckily, Katrina's dress can just be thrown in the washing machine.
The whole display situation was very unorganized. The day before we had waited in line what seemed like hours just to enter the kids art projects in the Creative Arts Room. When asked by the fair personnel I was honest in my feedback :/
Community Pool Party
I took Graham and Callie to the community pool party. Since we are getting a new county pool next year we went to swim in it one more time.
Graham wasn't quite himself after swimming. Callie LOVED to watch the swimming during the Olympics. PHELPS! When she learned that the Olympics won't be on again till she is ELEVEN, she could hardly take it. PEHLPS!
There wasn't any point holding YW during the fair. How can I compete? For those who wanted to, we attended Comedy Sports together.
Callie invited two of her friends to come with us to view the exhibits and to see the animals (I let them think they were on their own). As I browsed the art gallery I got to thinking, "Man, there are some really talented people! I could never paint or make that." Then I realized, "Wait! I sewed that wedding dress over there!"
We all have something different to offer.
Boondocks August 6th
Frito Lay had a summer party at Boondocks in Farmington. After Max's baptism luncheon we headed there with the Gouldings. I haven't been there before and it was a nice outing. I met the Zone Manager for the first time as well. He said, "I like to bug Matt all day." I said, "The daytime me!"
Afterwards, we brought Alivia back to Heebs with us.
I hope she wasn't planning on all fun and games because Ava put her to work! They transformed her pink bedroom into a sunny yellow one. It required four coats of paint, which took them into the wee hours of the night, of several nights.
Those two are all about pulling an all-nighter. I got up one morning to go to my workout class at 6 am and they were on the couch. I asked why they were up so early, turns out they hadn't gone to bed yet! They just wanted to say hello, and then they stumbled downstairs to slumber. Ahhh the life of a teen. It was an unusual week for all of us. The TV was on every evening as we watched the Summer Olympic Games in RIO! During the opening ceremonies Matt dumped a big bag of candy and snacks that he got from his latest golf tournament on the ottoman. We pigged and watched. Very unlike us (wink wink).
The girls also palled around with Mallerie and her buddy's. Here they are at Vickie's,
and at Josh's farewell luncheon.
I went and heard his talk. He did a great job. We will miss having him at the house all the time. Good luck in JAPAN!
(While Josh was coming out of the anesthesia after having his wisdom teeth out, he was certain that Ava was going to bring him a Doritos smoothie ;)
They spent a day at The Spot working with Mal.
We brought them a bbq chicken pizza and got dessert for ourselves.
One day Mallerie went in to work and there was only half a wheel of ice in the freezer. She texted and called the manager but couldn't get a hold of her. I asked, "So what did you do?" She said, "Luckily no one came to get a shaved ice during my shift."
Let's just say she got in a lot of summer reading.

Ceramics at the Rec
The instructor had a very deep voice. However, from the long hair and blinged out jeans I could easily tell it was a female. Graham however, was convinced the instructor was male, "HE said we can pick up our projects in one week."
Freezer Jam
First attempt at raspberry freezer jam. Mallerie is surprised that there is still some in the freezer. I suppose it is because I now know exactly how much sugar goes into making it:/
Provo City Center Baptisms with the Young Women August 10th
It was such a lovely evening spent together in the temple. We got a bite at Pizza Pie Cafe afterwards.
Cousin Shannon's Wedding August 13th
Boy, if perfect weather could be ordered up, this would be it! It was a lovely ceremony and dinner at Snowbird Resort.

Back-to-School Shopping August 8th
Ava had an appointment with her Speech Pathologist in Pleasant Grove so we decided to make a day of it. After a Kong cone from Macy's and a trip to the movies, we headed to the
Outlets at Travers Mountain. Graham was super excited about trying out his new HEELY'S. I was in awe at the fa-dancy ladies room. Callie purchased a beloved Beenie Boo (that fair money was already burning a hole in her pocket).

On our way home we stopped in Lindon at Sweet-O Burrito, and loved it! As we were exiting the parking lot we saw that Granny and Grandpa had just gotten off the bus from the Conference Center. We drove over to them and they said they were on their way to dinner....so we went with them! We only ordered dessert, but at least we got to visit. At Maria Bonita's there is a fish tank. Callie found Dory. The ironic thing is that we had just gone to Finding Dory that very day. The day was full of unexpected run-ins.
Speaking of running...
The Color Run August 20th
Sadie got us in for FREE because she works for TCR. The Gouldings came out from Elko the night before and stayed with us. I liked going in Callie's room to see that she and Scarlett had laid out all their stuff just so.
We met up bright and early on Saturday morning in Salt Lake City with the Taylors, Geertsen's, and the Whitmore's.
The run is actually a walk, but it felt great to be out on a pretty day.
The only downfall is that people keep throwing chalk on you ;)

Mallerie was also there running it with her pals. Yeah, they actually ran.
It really is the Happiest 5k on the planet.
Back to School August 22nd
And with that it was officially time for summer to wind down. Mallerie was headed to Emphriam to attend Snow College, and the first day of school was in the works for the rest of the kids.
This is the space Mal has called home.
And the wheels that have gotten her to where she needs to go.
It took us loading up the back of the truck AND The back of the van to get her stuff down to school.
We got her moved in and then it was time for goodbye. She was so EXCITED.

As one left, one returned. After spending the summer in South Carolina, we were excited to see Kat!
First Day of School August 23rd
Freshmen get to attend a day early at Wasatch High School. Oh man, here we go again!
Graham and Callie's first day at JR Smith Elementary - 2nd grade and 4th grade.
I commented to Gray, "Hey, I never got a picture of you on your first day." He said, "Good."
Anniversary August 26th
The following Friday was our 22nd Anniversary. We had dinner in Park City.
The years are just zooming by.
Just because summer break has officially ended doesn't mean we can't enjoy hot dogs in the backyard. Actually, we were pretty sick of hot dogs by the end of the summer.
Graham got a new bike. This one actually didn't end up working out so he exchanged it for a bigger one. He even pitched in some fair money.
I prepared for the combined Young Women lesson on How to be in the World but not of the World. I made each girl her own little purse (like in the Mormon message video) that contained reminders, "Be a quiet example of a Young Woman living the Gospel."
I think of my life like this. It really is just an ordinary life. When I post pictures of our events and happenings, it doesn't necessarily tell the everyday story where I really don't have that much going on. I like it that way.
