Over the desert and through the sand to grandmother's house we go.

Graham appears to be playing air guitar to finally be at Grandma and Grandpa's in Yucca Valley, CA Friday October 8, 2010.
Since this is a new place we were taken on a tour of the sprawling grounds first before going inside where Grandma showed the kids her things around her office. But Grandpa's office was off limits. The caution gave me heed to get the shakes when asked to retreive a spare chair from there.
Callie was immediately interested in the plastic tea set. Service for two. Everything was picture perfect and oh so welcoming to weary travelers such as ourselves.
Grandma and Grandpa joined us on Saturday for the family picnic in the park in conjuction with Matt's reunion. The reuion letter read: "Kids Eat Free". If only they knew. We set up camp at our own table. That night at the dinner Ron's wife said, "It seemed like half the party was gone when your family left."
The little ones had no trouble making friends.

It was a treat to attend church on Sunday. Matt's parents have moved about nine times since he lived in Yucca Valley last. But they have come full circle and are now in the same ward he started in. This made the reunion theme of the weekend carry on at church when he knew people from a lot longer than twenty years ago. In Sunday School Jamie's sister Christy was Katrina's teacher. At least she could pronouce Bocanegra! The ward there really had a sweet spirit to it. What a treat it was to have Sunday dinner at Grandma's. We lounged in the livingroom afterwards and Grandpa Mike taught the kids to play the autoharp. It was soothing enough to put me right to sleep.

The night before when the kids had been at Grandma's while Matt I attended the dinner/dance Callie had become fond of the cat. The kids were anxious to show me how she crouches down and calls, "Kitty, kitty."

 Success!
On our way to Aneheim we stopped at the dinosaurs from Pee Wee's  Big Adventure. We were fresh off from watching it just that month. Matt is not a fan off Pee Wee BUT he was a good sport. Everyone I know has a big but... We were a little dressed up for such an outing. Sort of like Pee Wee.
The dad knows the way to carry the van through the tan and grainy sand...
