The Prophet said to plant a garden...so that's what we'll do! June 8, 2009

I remember going to an enrichment night after moving to Heber where the master Gardner (his last name really is Gardner) said that he never plants his garden till after June 5th to avoid a late frost. I have taken this to heart and the only other time we planted a garden was on June 5th 2006. This year the 8th fell on a Monday so it was perfect to have a FHE on gardening and then actually plant some seeds. Our garden needed weeding and churning before planting and we worked together as a family. At one point it sprinkled a little but this didn't stop us from working, and left us a lovely rainbow overhead. Matt used his muscles to wack those weeds. Katrina was spotted in a rare outdoor sighting. And when it was all planted we were graced by a rainbow.

Hey! it actually grew!
Mallerie with the green bean harvest. Too bad those pumpkins almost choked out everything else. We have to lift the tangled vines to get to the cucumbers and the vines have wrapped themselves around the corn. Eliza asked, "So do you have enough to last you through the winter." "Nah, just a couple meals."
